Content Design Project Material: You are not alone.

The Project:

In an attempt to improve internal technical communication in USF’s 101 Howard downtown campus my group and I decided to come up with a plan to promote mental health and wellness. With the holiday season and finals around the corner, we wanted to offer USF students an anonymous way to express what they may be going through. For a week students were given the chance to scan a QR code that would take them to an anonymous page where they were able to submit anonymous messages to be displayed for others to view on a rolling TV screen in the lobby of 101 Howard. This way other students could relate or be encouraged by these messages, knowing that they are not alone.

  -Duration: 1 Week

  -Methods: Surveys & Interviews

  -Tools: Canva

My Role:

Design and layout, interview questions, creating QR codes, and the idea of anonymous note cards.

The Process:

The first steps included interviewing faculty and staff about when they believe students experience mental health the most. The next step included surveys aimed at students where they chose the most relatable outlet they frequently use when experiencing mental health. After that came the design process which included a white background to keep the “You are not alone” from being too loud, gold, and dark green to promote the school colors. The QR code at the time took students to an ASK.fm page where they could submit anonymous messages that were recorded and posted to the rolling TV screen in the lobby. Under the QR code is the University’s Counseling and Psychology (CAPS) URL so students who would like additional mental health resources at USF may have them.

The Final Product:

(You are not alone.)
