DocuSign: CIP Project

The Project:

During my Summer 2022 Technical Writer internship at DocuSign, I was tasked with a Content Improvement Project to aid my CLM team in our CLM Conversion Project, also known as the Bounce Project. The CLM Conversion Project or Bounce Project is about converting our existing legacy CLM customers from SpringCM (a company DocuSign acquired) to DocuSign CLM (CLM.CM to CLM.DS). This meant updating existing content from SpringCM and creating new topics up to DocuSign’s content standards.

  -Duration: 12 Weeks

-Tools: Google Suite, Jira, Confluence, Ixiasoft, Zoomin, DITA XML, Hemingway App

-Results: Total of 35 topics were updated into now 13 topics

To see the outcome of projects, see DocuSign Edit, SpringCM Edit, Check In and Out, Identify Your Account Type, and Log On to CLM below. If you would like a PDF version of the deliverables to compare with the outcome, please contact me.

My Role:

Improve, update, and create new topics identified as high priority by the CLM Conversion Project, also known as the Bounce Project. All topics displayed were done by me with the final approval of other Technical Writers and SME’s.

The Process:

The CLM Conversion Process consisted of 10 steps.

  1. Identify

Picking a ticket from the Jira backlog, updating it to reflect I’m working on it by assigning the ticket to myself and changing the status to “In Progress”.

  2. Research

Learning about the feature through DocuSign Support Center, DocuSign University, Ixiasoft, Product Manager stand-ups, and leveraging other writers to understand the feature and the customer needs.

  3. More Research

Identifying the difference between CLM.DS and CLM.CM for the features.

  4. Organize

Organizing my current work and creating a proposed new structure of topics if it was necessary.

  5. Draft

Using the information I’ve gathered to start crafting the revised content through Google Docs.

  6. Edit

Using the various standard and guidelines, I’d make sure my content met DocuSign standards.

  7. Review

Fellow Technical Writers would review the content I’ve created in a workshop style.

  8. More Review

SME’s review the content and would provide a sign-off that the content is accurate and ready to be published.

  9. Ixiasoft

Entering the content into Ixiasoft. This is where I would create the new topics, organize them, and remove out dated topics from the map.

  10. Publish

Publishing my changes to the DocuSign Support Center through Zoomin.
